This is a mainstream release from singer/songwriter Mark Ruebery. With his youthful good looks, this graduate of the Royal Welsh College Of Music And Drama sings, plays guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion, co-writes and co-produces. Like me, he was born in Newport, South Wales. Can one man really have so much going for him? Well on the evidence of this CD, yes he can! This is an album of poppy, optimistic songs which showcase, as you would expect of a true Welshman, a warm and soulful voice of no little quality. The album was co-produced with Nick Brine (The Darkness, Oasis) and recorded in Wales at Rockfield Studios (Queen, Coldplay). The album opens with the lead off single "It Goes Around And Comes Around" and mixes up tempo songs with strong ballads, such as the title track. "Cold November" unashamedly rocks. The common themes throughout the album are an obvious love of music, and, dare I say, his love of women ("I haven't met the right woman yet"). Mark says that the songs speak very much of his own experiences, but the overall tone is optimistic. An artist to keep an eye on.
