The music ministry of the Calvary Chapel organisation is legendary for its enduring excellence of both performance and songwriting, and the latest product of the Merritt Island branch is well up to standard. Situated just down the Atlantic coast of Florida from Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Centre, and pastored by Malcolm Wild of Malcolm & Alwyn fame, it's the home to several class acts, and Mary Barrett is one of them. Her voice is a very expressive alto, reminiscent of Kim Hill but slightly higher up the register, and like Kim, she has the ability to write simple but very effective songs. The whole album is so good, it's difficult to pick the standout tracks, but the title track (written by Pastor Malcolm's son Joel), "So Close", a gentle devotional ballad, and a live cut of the old Julie Miller country opus "All My Tears (Be Washed Away)" are my present faves. Having said that, doubtless the rest of the songs will worm their way into my subconscious, to ensure that this is a CD that will remain top of my personal heap for a long time. Recommended.

I just recently heard about Mary's going home to be with her beloved Jesus 2 weeks ago. Heartbroken don't even come close to what I am feeling. Mary was the first person to come up to me and introduce herself to me at Word of Life church in Fl. I was new in the area and she befriended me. that was 27 years ago. we became fast friends. she went on many mission trips with me...and watched my 6 children when I went with my husband, Fred, on trips. she shared many of her thoughts and hearts desisres with me throughout the years. As I look over old photo's and listen to her music, I cry happy tears and can only say, "Thank you Jesus for blessing me with such a sweet sister."

I discovered the other day that Mary went home to glory on November 10 - my thoughts and prayers are with Mary's friends and family and all the folks at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island. RIP

This is one of the finest albums I've ever heard. Beautiful, reverent, inspiring. Where can I get hold of more copies, please, anyone??
God bless you, Mary, and all the musicians whose devotion to the Lord made this masterpiece possible.
