Moses The Prophet AKA Young Moses, AKA Ulyses comes straight outta Compton with a vibe that takes you back to the mid '90s and the golden age of west coast rap. This album is more assured in the production than Moses The Prophet's earlier 'Banging In The Spirit' and shows a lot of promise. Tracks like "Still Blazin" and "Who Do You Serve" serve up a full on gospel infusion over strong tracks. "I Had Pain" is the standout cut here as Moses, with the help of some soulful vocals from Rachel Davies, lays raw his background in gangs, violence and drugs, contrasting with the hope he has subsequently found in Christ. In his bio Moses explains how he met God in prison following a 16 month stretch, explaining how God visited him in his dreams. He heard a voice saying, "Drink of this cup, the blood of Jesus Christ." Moses has certainly become a walking testimony of the grace of Jesus and this comes over on his album. There are plenty of highlights however at 30 tracks you feel a few fillers could have been pruned, giving a stronger, more satisfying overall effect. Having said that though, this is still an album that builds on his previous work.

I had the great fortune to meet Moses one day as he stood outside of the super wal-mart in Moreno Valley California as a "soldier for Christ", spreading "The Message". Needless to say I was blown away by the strength of his lyrics once I played his cd on my ride home, but most importantly I was truely blessed by his testimony! I haven't seen you in a good while brother Moses, but you left a powerful impression on this 52 year old mans life! I pray that the LORD is doing even greater things in your life now, and that you continue to grow in HIS grace. Bro. Fred
