It's hard to put this uplifting collection of worship and gospel tunes into the box of reggae, such is the varied number of styles on offer, but it suits the feel and background of New Creation Heritage well. There are some fine voices on display here, including the single deepest bass I have ever heard ("They See God") - and some physics defying high notes from one of the sopranos on "Fly Away". The songs are a little varied in quality - for every bright and airy reggae bouncer there is the occasional cringe moment in the production (the chorus of "Angels Rejoice"). Some of the tracks stay firmly in sugary ballad territory for the most part, with "Jesus Never Fails" being the best example on the album, but still managing to convey something deep about the artists' experience of Jesus at every turn. The final track "Look Over Jordan" promises much in a bluesy anthem of hope in the middle of despair, until some very strange electronic drum fills distract from the otherwise engaging soundscape. That said, there is something about New Creation Heritage's album which is truly fresh. It's a shame they lack the finesse and quality in production to make it anything more.
