Having recently brought us three well-received modern worship releases, the team from New Life Oahu mega-church in Honolulu, Hawaii now turn their attention to Christmas material. "There's A Song In The Air" is a gorgeous ballad, sounding like it comes straight from a Christmas movie soundtrack while the closer "Mele Kalikimaka" with its rhythmic, funky beat featuring Taz Vegas on lead adds some local flavour and spice. Their rendition of "Silent Night" stays reverentially true to the original with senior pastor Wayne Cordeira stepping up to the mic. The mainly acapella fusion of "Mary Did You Know?" and "O Come O Come Emmanuel" features vocal acrobatics worthy of Pentatonix and shows the talent available to New Hope. There are also some soothing instrumentals such as the jazzy take on "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" featuring Deshannon Higa. All in all, a creative take on the Christmas season.
