This is Nicole's debut album on Word though aficionados will tell you she's sung on Veggie Tales and Carman kids projects, wrote the huge Jaci Velasquez hit "On My Knees" and is married to artist/producer David Mullen (whom CR wrote about in the very first issue). There is a bit of a buzz Stateside about this album, After listening to it, I can see why. Nicole is possessed of a beautiful voice that bears favourable comparison with Whitney Houston and a talent for writing catchy songs that get your foot tapping then hit you between the eyes when the lyrics filter through to the brain. The album is very well produced and brings out the best of the varied styles that Nicole employs, from the gospel reworking of "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" through the poignant "Farewell" to the spoken word (it's not quite a rap) of "Family Tree". This album has been on my walkman for a week and a half now and still brightens up my walk to work and will do for sometime to come. If you are looking for something that will keep you interested beyond one play, go get this in your collection now.
