This album, from an American four-piece girl vocal group, came across exactly as I had anticipated. Although it is a technically polished presentation with quality, soulfully sweeping vocals and competent arrangements, it unfortunately lacks the kind of spark and imagination to grab your attention and make you want to play it over and over again. Formula too often takes the place of inspiration. The tracks are all at much the same pace and the main lyric line (especially in "Share The Love" and "I Wanna Be Yours") is repeated far too often. This made the album became boring and at times irritating, with many tracks seeming to last far beyond their four to five minute time scale. This was a shame as the songs in themselves, most notably the slight more energetic "God Says Wait", are not without some appeal. If these tracks could be remixed more clinically with a little less need to cram each song with vocal embellishments and with a greater use of instrumental breaks, this could have been an enjoyable album. But, with the quality soulful voices and an expensive production budget it could, and should, have been so much better.

When this cd was first released, I was in high school and a devout Christian. "God Says Wait" helped keep me grounded! I would love for my 2 nieces to be inspired as well. Puhleeze help!

I was in a church yesterday and they sung the original version of "Ride This Train" and it sparked my memory of this cd. I LOOOVVVEEED THIS CD!!!! It was definitely before it's time! I racked my brain until I remembered one of the other songs....I have literally spent over 3 hrs searching the web for this cd and couldn't remember the group's name. I prayed and a little while later I heard the name Nu Joy dropped in my spirit...after searching under that name to no avail, I came across Nu Joi...and finally ended up here!!! God is awesome!!!! I need this cd...like the other woman, my kids are teens now and I know this cd (especially "God Says Wait") would be a blessing to thim because they sing. Please contact me at nhall@overflowingwellministries.org to let me know where I can get it!!!!!

I loved Nu Joi too. They formed in my hometown of Columbia, SC, and we thought they were hot! I was just browsing through my old CD's and ran across theirs. I still love it, especially "Giving My Love to You." My copy is very scratched and I ran across this site browsing for a new one. I agree with everyone else--that reviewer has NO idea what he's talking about. This CD, though it didn't get as much exposure as it should have, was ground-breaking. A reunion would be good, but I'm sure all the ladies have started their own families and own lives. But it would be great!

I LOVE this cd!! I used to listen to it with my Aunt but when she passed, the cd somehow got lost. Does anyone know where I would be able to get a copy??
Thanks,
Michelle Richardson

I am both disgusted and insulted by the review that this album was given. I am priviledged to still have an original copy of this ground breaking album and I enjoy listening to it now, just as much as I did when I first heard it 15 years ago. As anyone with an in depth knowledge of Gospel music knows, it is a characteristic of Gospel music that hooks or phrases are repeated several times. (think Hezekiah Walker)As for the music itself, at the time of this albums release back in the mid nineties, there was no other Gospel album that sounded like Nu Joi, it was (and still is) fresh and dared to use bass lines and beats that traditionalists may consider "worldly" or contraversial. The albums use of progressive beats was not at the expense of watering down the Word of God and tracks such as "God said wait" had a clear stance on holiness. The album is timeless and I love it! And may suggest that reviews of Gospel albums are written by reviewers who actually have a genuine love of Gospel music. In closing, I had the honour of meeting Nu Joi when they ministered in my home town back 1996, I was struck by their humility and commitment to God. I trully hope they reform and do another album. Shalom.

I just read the review of this group and the album. To be honest I dont know what they were smoking, because this was one of the greatest albums I have had the pleasure of listening to. I along with the two ladies that commented about the album, surfed the web to find this Album, because my copy got messed up. I am surprised to hear that the group split up. I really believed in them and I believed that God was taking them somewhere. Sometimes you gotta go through some things in order for God to mold and make you. Because as I''m sure they know it is from their pain that God birth songs of inspiration. My brother Daron Shuler played for their group a couple of times and he introduced the group to my church, where the Bishop Allen H. Simmons in my Pastor/Uncle. I do hope and pray that one day they will return and that God restore them back together. I'll keep them in my prayers. Teresa
