The Praise Gathering Choir has developed and grown considerably since its inception in 1985, and the 2009 Praise Gathering at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall featured more than 400 singers drawn from in excess of 125 different churches located across central Scotland. The 12 tracks on offer here from that event are a mixture of old and newer praise and worship songs (providing 60 minutes of music) and the choir is ably accompanied by a combination of piano, keyboard, guitar, drums and saxophone. There are sufficient solo inserts (vocal and instrumental) to keep the recording interesting at all times (aided by a sprinkling of medleys) and the more than occasional blues, jazz and gospel motif sit very nicely with and enhance the more traditional choral sound that constitutes the majority. All in all, this CD is likely to be well received both by longstanding supporters of the choir and by those new to the ensemble.

Product Description
This Is Our God was recorded over three nights in June 2009 at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall attended by 5,800 people. The recording includes 400 singers from over 125 churches throughout West and Central Scotland including special guests Kristyn Getty, Brad & Bethany Goodine.

Praise Gathering has its origins in a choir which came together in 1985 to sing the ‘Psalms Alive’ songs. At that time the invitation was given “to singers - skilled and unskilled, but with a heart for God - to come and take part in this corporate act of Praise to our God.” Over the years, many people have responded to that invitation and last summer there was a choir of 400 singers drawn from 125 different churches.

The history of Praise Gathering is therefore really a history of God at work in the lives of ordinary people who have experienced His love and forgiveness in their own lives. People who are discovering that praising and worshipping God with their voices and their lives is not something that comes naturally, but is something that has to be learned. People who, in learning to acclaim God, are discovering that, in doing so, they experience the joy of His presence every day!
