By the time this review appears, Rachel and husband David, with whom she forms a full time itinerant music team, seeking to encourage, challenge and motivate both Christians and non-Christians, will have completed a three month mission around Canada. Doubtless this CD will form the bulk of her set, and it's a pleasant enough listen, containing as it does a mix of mid-paced covers by the likes of Chris Eaton ("Flower In The Rain"), Pam Thum, Ray Boltz and a rousing "Keep The Candle Burning" to close. There's even room for the ubiquitous "Love Can Build A Bridge". Rachel's voice is at times reminiscent of later Kate Bush, although has a little less strength, which can be the undoing of one or two of the tracks, particularly as the programmed backing is, as always, very unforgiving on the yoice, which tends to stand out more than if it were backed by a band. That said, I'm certain that Rachel's music does and will continue to go down well live, with songs such as "When I Heal" and "How Could You Say No" always proving to be thought provoking and challenging.
