A fast-rising new star of the operatic world, Rebecca was acclaimed as 1991's "operatic discovery of the year." This CD shows why she is in such demand for television and concert performances as well as her operatic work. The programme offered here includes gems from Handel, Verdi, Dvorak, tending towards the more popular and accessible works. This is a superb voice, Rebecca's total control avoiding the traps beckoning powerhouse sopranos and maintaining sweetness and tenderness. To be honest, I wasn't sure this would be my kind of recording but I'm completely won over by this superb voice and the lush orchestral backing.
