How to celebrate 33 years of happy marriage? How about recording an album with your lovely wife! Nice one Ricky! but with famous hindsight it does seem strange that they didn't do this years ago, especially when in 1987 they won a Country Music Association "Vocal Duo Of The Year award" for the very catchy "Love Can't Ever Get Better Than This", here re-recorded as track two of this fine new release. For most of the other 12 tracks, they have sought out mainly new material, expressing their personal feelings for each other, but also reflecting their deep Christian faith. Another country music husband and wife duo, Connie Smith and Marty Stuart contribute to the opener "Run To You" and a really touching song of love "Hearts Like Ours" while Christian country friend, Barbara Fairchild is responsible for the thought provoking "It Takes Three". In fact apart from the aforementioned award winner, the only other older song is "If I Needed You", a gem from the late Townes Van Zandt, which the sleevenotes tell us they sang to each other at their wedding in 1981. The tasteful modern country backings, with plenty of steel guitar and fiddle, perfectly compliment Ricky and Sharon's voices.
