Although sub-headed 'A Praise And Worship Album' and containing scriptural lyrics crammed with fulsome praise to "the high and lifted up, awesome God", this is some way from what many people would expect from the phrase "praise and worship album." The opener has an Afro-tinged funk rock groove and a sassy brass section over which Sade, a worship leader at a thriving church in Hendon, London, emotes effectively. After such an engaging opener things take a dip. The title track is a dull, mid-tempo song of devotion as too is "You Are Worthy O Lord" while the piano and synth accompaniments are at best functional. By the time I got to the seventh and last song, a remix of "Awesome God", my enthusiasm had waned. Clearly better material is needed if Sade is to make an impact in the increasingly crowded UK gospel marketplace.
