Approaching their 10 year anniversary, this Indiana-based electronica outfit release their latest project. Originally intended to be an EP, 'Motor Club' grew and grew eventually turning into a full length album. The sound of Sheltershed is hard to pin down. They take elements of many different styles of dance music such as industrial, drum 'n' bass and trance. You can hear nods to the dance music of the mid-'90s but these are balanced with a modern edge that prevents it from sounding dated and keeps it fresh. There are some very solid musical ideas on this album but these are often let down by the songs not quite feeling like they have been put together properly. Opener "Access Violation" is a good example of this with some catchy trance loops, but a bass line that doesn't seem to quite fit properly. There is also a lack of flow in the album. It doesn't seem to fit together quite right as you go from track to track. They come across as a group still striving to deliver a killer recording.
