This album is the blatant personal testimony of Sheri and her husband Kevin Harrington in a Jamaican/New York R&B style. All the vocals, lead, backing, and vocal arrangements are by Sheri with some classic gospel influences including her mother, CeCe Winans, and Tremaine Hawkins. Most of the tracks are credited to Kevin Harrington on all instruments, with the notable exception of John ‘Groovelicious’ Willis on wah wah guitar. Certainly almost all the tracks are written by this husband and wife team, most obviously “Granted” which uses the wedding service as its source of lyrics, especially the reprise – “What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.” On track nine Sheri explains exactly what she wants you to get out of the album in a mini-interview; the obvious answer is Jesus. There is even shocking in-your-face preaching here, when Sheri tells us to stop begging and worship God, including the reprise “You can kiss my master.” This is no holds barred. Listening to this will transport you to a very passionate home in Queens, New York. It hasn’t been tainted with commercialised production and is pure home girl gospel.
