I've stated before that The Angelical Voice Choir are one of my favourite black gospel choirs live. This is their debut single on Simon's new label and a polished performance it is too. As the title suggests, it's a plea for unity and co-operation - the 'we are the world' lyrical approach is a little bland for my liking however, and I missed the Pentecostal fire of their live performance. I preferred the flip featuring the lead vocal of Yolanda Blackman. Still, Simons is a man with a mission and I'm sure we'll be seeing excellent things from him and the AVC in the future.
