A second album from a well respected New Zealand quartet. Everything is in place here from the soulful vocals of Brian Platt, who puts plenty of emotion into everything, through to U2/Radiohead influences that make for an uplifting, triumphant overall sound. Continuing the band’s beginnings as a worship group, the feel of the album is decidedly vertical with plenty of worship songs without sounding like a conventional worship album! I actually enjoy this approach and songs like “Worship You Alone” and “Angels” do remind me of Johnny Parks at times with swathes of guitars, emotion and unembarrassed passion whilst avoiding the usual line in worship cliches. Another standout is the vibey title cut complete with creative lyricism from Platt. The result is something powerful and yet unhyped. A prime example of the excellent music eminating from New Zealand.
