Squirt are an amazing band!  Guitarist Matt and bassist Blake are both 13 years old and drummer Jordan is 11!  Hence the name Squirt is an apt moniker for the world’s youngest Christian rock band!  However, these three squirts should not be mistaken for that other teen outfit Hanson as this lot are a chalk-like rock’n’roll compared to Hanson’s cheese.  Apart from the obvious unbroken teenage vocals, Squirt clearly have a musical maturity beyond their years, playing all the instruments on this debut CD.  They are expert exponents of Squirt rock – an infectious mixture of pop, punk and rock – and have had the foresight to employ Jordan’s dad to write all the songs.  As his father is Dez Dickerson whose pedigree includes a stint as guitarist with Prince (check out the”1999” video!) this all seems like a good move.  This is top quality power pop rock with plenty to endear it to the listener.  I liked the opening cut “Learning” with its catchy hook, the worship of “Lord Of All” and the bouncy captivating enthusiasm of both “Time” and the crazy “Happy Face” (a song which Squirt themselves penned).  This band has a strong ministry focus reaching their generation for Christ and musically this has the muscle to match anything else out there.  Strong start and Squirt have the chops to be “Huge”!
