In 1988 Steve Taylor left the record label that had released his earliest recordings, Sparrow Music, and as is the habit of labels in these situations, they released this 17 track 'Best Of' culled from two albums and one EP. The result as you'd imagine was a little scanty but they chose to place all six songs from his debut EP 'I Want To Be A Clone' on the collection. You get plenty of good songs here including "On The Fritz", "This Disco" and "I Just Wanna Know". There are also three songs not originally released, rejected from previous albums that surface here to give fans a reason to buy the collection. Inevitably they weren't strong enough for the albums they were intended to be part of and continue to be substandard here. However if you haven't got 'I Want To Be A Clone' or 'Whatever Happened To Sin' from the 'Clone' classic, these are gems every Taylor fan should have. Steve's better music would be on his next two solo releases and the album he recorded with Chagall Guevera and the double best of collection that follows and surpasses this.

Gr8 cd! Once again, great ccm classics on cd. After 5
releases, in October of 1988 we find this cd.
The new song "Under the Blood" kicks off the 17 song set,
great new song, wtg Steve!
"To Forgive", "Hero", "Sin for a Season", "Guilty By
Association", "I Just Wanna Know" and "Written Guarantee"
are among my top favorites contained on this best of
collection. Great artwork for a cd, not too much seen since
the compact disc arrived. The cover painting was done by
Steve's wife Debbie.
I was unaware of Steve's aim toward tele evangelist Jimmy
Swaggart regarding some song lyrics; Steve's bio on line
relates this in the info; interesting bio btw.
