Long in the tooth followers of Christian involvement in dance music will remember London's seminal Abundant Christian night club organised by a funky DJ, Steve Baker. Steve was also the co-founder of the DBass record label and this 12" single was released into clubland in 1995. There are four mixes on offer here and though the 12 Nights Of Summer Mix and the DJ Prior Mix have their moments it's, rather ironically, the Album Mix from Synergy's 'Return To Ritual' album (distributed in the UK by Nelson Word) which sounds the best with a throbbing synth pattern and the brief vocal interjections from singers Kelly Dickson and Jess Patten. What spoils the venture is producer Tim Riches' misguided decision to include speech samples of "radical" theologian Matthew Fox whose pantheistic concepts teeter way too close to heresy for most orthodox Christians. Shame as "Retinal Vibration" was an above average dance track.
