The history of Britain's The Followers is probably lost in the mists of time now but this four track vinyl EP survives. It was given to me by a lady in my church who was obviously a fan back in the day as the sleeve has been signed by all the group members. There are no dates but it sounds like something that was recorded in the first years of the '70s with a folk sound (no drums) and plenty of harmonies. Interestingly it was recorded at Echo Studios in Eastbourne, these days better known as ICC. The Gloucestershire group present their four tracks in a folky way with a selection of harmonies and gentle instrumentation. The message on songs like "Signs By The Side Of The Road" and "While Others Seek" are the typical evangelistic material of the era where Christian bands would play in churches or in coffee bars as a way of outreaching. Overall, it's an interesting and obscure curio of Christian music from a more innocent time.
