This disc contains a unique collection of vintage recordings starts with a wax cylinder piece, "Comrades, Arouse To The Call/Onward Christian Solders" recorded in 1896 and conducted by George Mitchell, reproduced here with remarkable clarity given its age. After this fascinating piece of history the compilation offers a selection of recordings conducted by seven of the eight International Staff Band Bandmasters (no recordings were made during the tenure of William Stewart) and takes the listener on a journey through the development of the recording industry as well as exploring the musical legacy of the band. Tracks also include "Corpus Christi", "The Holy War" (named after the John Bunyan book) and "The Pilgrims Prayer". The time span covered here highlights the band's consistent mission to present the message of the Gospel through music. An enjoyable historical collection.
