This is where it all began for the now popular husband and wife duo featuring veteran Irish singer/songwriter Sammy Horner and his Australian wife Kylie. This 2014 album is an eclectic, vibrant mix of Celtic/folk and rootsy, Americana grooves which covers a range of styles from upbeat foot-stompers to gentle ballads. Opener "Ain't No Devil Ever Gonna Come Steal My Soul" starts with the sound of a crackling record giving way to an old-time, swampy hoedown worthy of the Deep South as Horner declares victory over Satan. The lilting, wistful "Helper" showcases Sammy's world-weary, husky vocals and Kylie's dreamy vocals combining at their best - a wonderful blend throughout. The airy, breathy, kicking "It All Belongs" urges us to thank God in all circumstances. "If I Knew How To Tell You" is a full-on, bluesy slice of rock as Horner asks God to speak through him. "Benediction" ends things with a rousing take on the traditional Irish Blessing. A fine album; a delightful combination of excellent musicianship, clever, witty lyrics and outstanding vocals.
