Southern Californian Tiffany has pursued music since aged 12 and at age 16 had formed a rock band and released her first EP. This 2013 collection of five songs presents a self-assured vocalist displaying talent beyond her years featuring her former band Of Eyes That See. The opener "Breathe Again" sees Tiffany engage in guitar-driven rock very much in Evanescence's style with some powerful lyrics of hope ("I'm a parasite among the dead/The lies I've told better left unsaid/This can't be it"). This expression of hope in something better continues with "Damage" which declares "I wanna feel something that lasts". Apparently Tiffany has plumped for a more pop-orientated sound on her recently released 'Anchored' album but 'Empty Shadows', speaking as it does of the anguish of a searching generation, still has the edge to connect with disconnected youth three years on.
