Vernon is a songwriter/producer from Maryland and with assorted friends has put together a soulful celebration of God's presence. "In Your Presence" featuring LaVarn Gordon has a sinuously soulful lead vocal and is as appealing a piece of soul ballad worship as I've heard for quite awhile. Almost as good is "Worthy Almighty", this time with Jemila Richardson handling the vocals, and "I Will Wait" with some subdued electronics in the accompaniment and a classy vocal from Byron Ransom. Clearly Vernon is a serious talent though with all the arrangements dominated by elegant piano playing and nothing resembling an uptempo song, its effect is lessened by hearing 'Songs From His Presence' in one sitting. But Vernon and his featured singers present these songs of divine adoration with unquestionable finesse.
