Originally a five piece band, today Waterdeep consist of husband and wife duo Don and Lori Chaffer. Here they offer a touch of positivity and whimsy with what really feels like a double EP release, 13 tracks over two discs that each run to about 16 minutes long. This is a concept album in the sense that it's packaged like an activity book for grown-ups thanks to great artwork and sweet songs that are in turn hummable and nostalgic. The idea is that ultimately the listener engages with their inner child and accepts Waterdeep's invitation to think back on the good times and celebrate the little blessings in life. Each CD has an intro track; sweet "Do The Dance" on the girly Pink disc and spooky "Enter The Magician" on the Blue boys disc (vocal duties are also duly split between Lori on Pink and Dan on Blue). The production and instrumentation are high quality and the whole package very appealing - it's hard to do a project like this without sounding horribly twee but thanks to a dose of humour, lots of charm and some great songwriting, Waterdeep have pulled it off.
