Quite a genre-busting CD this one. It's a collection of straight instrumental recording of hymns written within this Leicester-based Catholic community. The words are provided in an accompanying booklet so you can sing them. Also you have short commentaries from Father John whose use of the hymns at retreats he was leading led to the recordings being distributed. Attendees enjoyed the sessions he led so much that they asked for the recordings. As you might expect from this beginning the hymns and thoughts are focused on meditative times, with the overriding theme of Music as Prayer. So this CD should be considered first as a resource for prayer, which it does pretty well.
