Nashville-based Yancy has been turning out music for all ages for many years now. This is her fourth album in a series of CDs and DVDs in English and Spanish to encourage children's participation in worship. They will shortly be joined by an app for phone and tablet to further widen accessibility to this tool. The concept is simple and works because Yancy's songs are easy to learn and thy have actions to involve children physically. The repetitive and educational (spelling and counting) lyrics are designed to point the children towards their maker and Saviour. Most of the 15 songs are upbeat, bouncy with short phrases sung by a single voice or a kid's choir to encourage praise and thanksgiving. The musical backing of guitar, bass, keyboards and drums would probably be termed "light rock or pop" and is well produced and competent. "Taste And See", a much gentler song, with ukulele and handclaps backing Yancy's voice and the '70s Maranatha! Music oldie "I Love You Lord" provide welcome respite from the pounding pop rock while Yancy's father Jim Wideman handles the vocals on "Lord I Thank You" and "The Bunny Song" which have a country music vibe. All in all, quite a lot of fun.
