This is heavy. Zao have always reinvented themselves, but it is too much for some die-hard fans this time. With their metal-core/hardcore background they draw on more elements of death and black metal with a few dark electronic undercurrents, and a few quieter moments. This is their most experimental release, done well. The heavy bits are intense with heavy riffing, pounding double bass and growling vocals. The lyrics are cryptic, so no comment there. The diversity on this album is the splitter - some like it, some don't. I'm undecided.
