Mural of Fisk Jubilee Singers is returned to place at Fisk University Washington

AN HISTORIC 120-year old mural of the Fisk Jubilee Singers has been restored and returned to its place at the Fisk University, Washington. The mural was painted in 1873 by Queen Victoria's court artist Edmund Havell; during the Singers' European tour when the group introduced Negro spirituals to Europe. 11 of the 13 Singers were former slaves and with the money raised from the tour land was bought where the college is now located.
