Producer, singer and record executive dies in March

TOP GOSPEL producer, performer and record executive Frank Williams died in March. He was national director of Malaco Records' gospel division and was a key performer in two of the label's popular acts, the Jackson Southernaires and the Mississippi Mass Choir, which was founded in 1989 and which has been hailed by many as "one of the greatest recording choirs in gospel music history". Williams died of acute cardio respiratory arrest. His sudden and premature death causes a great loss to the world of gospel. CR

I love Frank Williams’ voice even more today. He sang with much conviction, compassion and sincerity that you were able to feel every word. My favorite is Near The Cross. I really miss that type of gospel. Thank God for blessing us with such a beautiful gift in his music.

There has never been a male that had a voice like his. I like near the cross. It touched my soul so deep. I have to cry every time i listen to it. I told my children to have it played@ my funeral. I will hear it in heaven.

Not only can no one else sing NEAR THE CROSS like Frank Williams, Angela Curry and the Miss Mass Choir, no other musicians can compete with them. Even the choir Director was phenomenal and on point with this song. The entire song is on one accord. It will forever be a classic. It truly blesses my soul! RIH, Bro. Williams!

Oh man!! Today,2017-05-24, I'm still listening to the song "near the Cross". Didnt know he passed on. Started performing Mississipi songs when I was 19 years old in 1991. Started with "its good to know Jesus. Was a Hit. Nobody could sing it like I did. Then came "Near the cross". Loved the choir especially Frank Williams. Still do. I think his soul actually found rest now. God bless his soul.
