Corinne Bailey Rae nominated for Best New Artist Grammy Award

UK-BASED pop soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae has been nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy Award. Her self-titled debut album recently went to 39 on Billboard's album charts, following an appearance of the singer on CBS's Early Show. In a recent interview Rae told Billboard, "I think music is going in two directions. People like a lot of popular music where songs don't mean much, but it's about hooks, production and little catchy things. Then there are people who also like listening to someone strumming a guitar and playing a song. I really admire both styles - the Carole Kings of 'How does a song work?' and more like inventing a new style of production, like on 'Drop It Like It's Hot'."
