When the now defunct Live Oak label were operating, they re-issued a number of 2nd Chapter's old Sparrow albums for the CD generation, So there have been opportunities in the past for CCM fans to catch up on the past output of these Christian music pioneers. But, acknowledging 2nd Chapter Of Acts astonishing 20 years in the Christian music ministry, US Sparrow have done the job right and put out a magnificently packaged and researched box set. So whadja get? 41 songs on two CDs or cassettes (together with a vastly informative booklet). The tracks range from 3 songs from the band's (now exceedingly scarce) first album through to two previously unreleased tracks cut in the late 80s. There are some ommissions, like nothing from the hugely successful 'Hymns' album, (presumably there were problems in Sparrow leasing them from US Word) but the groups classics are all here ("Easter Song", "Which Way The Wind Blows" etc). The early stuff is the most enjoyable, as gradually the group's harmonies got bogged down with overly fussy arrangements. But it is still a great tribute to a seminal group

I have this great collection of songs by the group in my huge ccm collection of music. I luv this cd, it showcases the best songs recorded by the group. It begins with the early songs of 1972 on mgm label. The cd contains "Mansion Builder", of course "Easter Song", "Takin' the Easy Way", "The Prince Song", "Rejoice" to name some of their more popular tunes. If you do not have anything by this group, this is the cd to buy. I would've like to see some of the songs from the "Hymn" projects on the cd set. I luv the arrangement of "Great is THY Faithfulness". I luv their added vocals to Sandi Patty's 1986 song "Hosanna"; it was a wonderful collaboration. They were also guests on Chuck Girard's debut lp; the wondrous song sung by so many today, "Sometimes Alleluia"( from 1975) Thank you for so many years of gifted songs to bless lives.
GOD Bless! - Don
