Work commenced on this debut album in 2013 but due to Andrew's extensive travel and touring commitments 'Taste And See' was not finally completed until mid-2015. Acoustic guitar-based light rock songs reflect the spiritual journey of the writer and form the bulk of the album. "Clean Slate" talking of a new start and freedom in Christ drifts nicely along like a punt along a stream, gently paced, the electronic piano chiming in support of the vocal but whistling along to the melody is risky and an unwelcome appearance. This same theme of a new start in Christ features in a number of songs, "Consider From This Day" and "Christ In Me". 'Taste And See' benefits from an African rhythm and bulbous bass sound akin to that achieved on Paul Simon's 'Graceland' with African backing vocals repeating ("Taste and see") while the lead vocalists sing parts of the Bible verse from which the track's title is taken. "Freedom Funk" tries to break the acoustic guitar lead mould, some chunky electric lead and an excellent slapped bass sound offers some variety. The lyrics are always clear, evangelical and positive, the vocals generally pleasing but not exceptional. Unfortunately, the hooks are overused and the songs are lengthened unnecessarily. Not a bad effort but in truth 'Taste And See' is far from groundbreaking.
