This collection of instrumental pieces offers some moving music that reflects something of the power and passion of the Bible's Song Of Songs. The composers - Andrew and Emily McCoy, based in Knoxville, Tennessee - have achieved this with an emotive soundscape. Throughout the album the use of Emily's poignant vocals really bring out further the feeling that is being expressed in the Song. This is particularly evident in "Song Of Solomon 2:1-17" which reaches a high point towards the end of the track. The fourth track is particularly good with its energetic guitar and vocals really expressing the pathos of the interaction between the lover and beloved. Overall each track expresses the relevant part of the story with flair and imagination, while the choice of instrumentation in each case is spot on and the musicianship and production first rate. An ambitious undertaking, Andrew and Emily are to be congratulated on such a powerful exploration of Scripture.
