Former Liberation Suite man Barry Bynum has left Belfast to return to this native Texas but this proves that Christian music pioneers not only never die but don't even have to fade away! The opening rocker "Jersualem" points us in the right direction for the rest of the album -light band , solid production, spiritually focussed and a bit of a sense of humour thrown in! Part studio, part live, the title cut and Kevin Gould's "Rend The Heavens" are both passionate, worshipful pieces captured with an enthusiastic crowd. Probably the best song he's written, from his Lib Suite days, is taken out and given new polish. 25 years after it was written, the timeless "Heal the Brokenhearted" still has an awesome impact. Back in the studio for the laid back "Pick Me Up, Set Me Down" and it's clear that Bynum still has vocal chops to carry the soul of his lyrics. Meanwhile the experimental blues and chat of "Jam: How Could I Not" prove he's still willing to push the musical boat out. The rockin' "And We Will Say" is rock praise while the floating "Living Water" sounds like it was recorded as a soundcheck and captures Barry and band easing back and going with the flow of worship. Just great! This album is the sound of Barry Bynum totally fulfilled in his niche. It's great to have some new material from him.
