Blurring the distinction between (white) Southern gospel and (black) traditional gospel, which is what this and its companion volume 'Build A Bridge' (reviewed in CR82) effectively does, may be an important contribution to church unity but it doesn't make for particularly thrilling music. Southern gospel superstar Bill Gaither and TV preacher/author and black gospel patriarch Bishop TD Jakes do adequate jobs as MCs/frontmen but it's the array of singing talent which is the main attraction here. And though none could deny the vocal credentials of the singers showcased - including Southern gospel's Russ Taff (on his '80s hit title track), Jason Crabb, David Phelps and the Martins and black gospel's Jessy Dixon, Lynda Randle, Larnelle Harris and Tramaine Hawkins -  the arrangements are overblown, the songs predictable and the album is only of limited appeal even to hardcore fans of both genres.
