This is a seven-track mini-album from a Californian band which mixes worship songs such as "Sweetly Broken" with more contemporary tracks like "Closer". The project begins with a well arranged acapella of "I Love You Lord" before heading straight into the gospel-filled "The River". A blend of blues electric guitar riffs and electric organ accompany the ever prominent piano and call and response vocals. "Closer" marks a break in the out and out gospel style, with a track instead resembling a style close to that of famed singer/songwriter John Meyer's "Freefallin'". From here on, the rest of the album is mellower, but resumes its gospel nature with the title track featuring the return of the electric organ and gospel ensemble. 'Hold On' ends with the acoustic "Blessed Assurance". All in all you cannot fault the musicianship of this group with some delightful acoustic and electric guitar melodies, however the key change in BCB's version of "Sweetly Broken" was to my ears cheesily unnecessary. But overall, not a bad effort.
