Those familiar with Building 429 will already know that a 'best of' release is decidedly premature. After all, they'd only cut three albums. But switching record companies means that EMI CMG have pulled the best tracks from 'Space Between Us' (2004), 'Rise' (2006) and 'Iris To Iris' (2007), for this set. Musically 'Glory Defined: The Best Of Building 429' is one of the very best examples of what the band refer to as "writing from a strictly vertical perspective" that I have ever come across. Two tracks of outstanding prowess are their first hit "Glory Defined", already reckoned a modern day classic, and "You Carried Me", a truly uplifting song of thankfulness for all those times when the road ahead is darkened and faith lights the way to the other side. With musical stylings falling somewhere between The Calling and Creed added to the poetry of the insightful lyrics, this is great Christian acoustic-tinged pop rock well worth buying. . . that's if you haven't got the tracks already.
