As I listened to this collection I couldn't help comparing these versions of well-known hymns to other, better versions I'd heard before. I found it hard to warm to the bouncy version of "Power In The Blood" after hearing Ashley Cleveland's soulful version, or to the acoustic rock style of "The King Of Love" after knowing Michael Card's gentle meditative version. Having said that, several of these tracks largely assembled by producer Andy Green are pleasant enough, for instance a version of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus' with tasty acoustic guitar and piano accompaniment. Other standouts are the folky version of "The Lord's My Shepherd" and a touching rendition of Townend's "How Deep The Father's Love For Us". Many of the songs aren't in themselves Celtic, though the flutes, whistles and mandolins give them a certain folk flavour.
