Anyone who refers to himself as "the master bodge artist" is clearly not serious about commercial success, so it would be wrong to be too hard on guitar instrumentalist Chris Pusey. Still, with titles like "Lady Of The Night" and "Mount Jezreel", and an album which is pretty much a 50-minute long rock guitar solo, we are definitely in Spinal Tap territory here. After opening with what sounds like a Casio keyboard version of the Braveheart theme, things take a turn for the better as Chris lets rip with his accomplished guitar noodling. The music is not particularly bad; the main problem is with structure. Every piece seems to be a randomly improvised musical journey based around a simple chord progression and with no clear indication of where things are going the music becomes boring. Only the hilariously titled "Mountain Of Spectacles" (what an image!) bucks this trend, with a funky rhythm adding some much needed variety.
