Chris is the worship pastor at three London churches and the vision for this EP was to write songs for what God is and will be doing in the city. The 'Square One' of the title reflects the area known as "the city." Perhaps reflecting the traffic and activity of London, with a sound like traffic noise, "We Are Free" drives off with a high-octane feel. Praising God for the freedom he provides, strong keyboard work keeps the throttle full on. "God You Save" is slower and more thoughtful lyrically with the title repeated to emphasise the power of the Maker. A mechanical feel to the start of "Your Grace" leads into another slower, sparser track of gratitude, ending with a soft fade of "your grace falls like a waterfall on me." "My King" returns to the fast lane, jangly guitars, strong drumbeat and a request to know how best to serve God and expressions of thanks for providing for all our needs. These four tracks are good new songs while there's also a re-working of the hymn evergreen "Be Thou My Vision". The production is a little rough around the edges and sometimes the key for the vocals seems a little low for comfortable singing, but on the whole a really positive musical journey.
