Eleven songs from this young five piece band from Florida headed up by KC Cleveland and Tom Carter. Independently recorded and privately released, what strikes you straight away here is the richness of Cleveland's songwriting and the vocal strength of the band. Cleveland and Carter trade vocals and with percussionist Jason Seger blend those voices into some beautiful harmonies. Various flavours of acoustic rock are employed and while the project clearly hasn't a huge budget, the band play to their strength. I liked "All He Ever Did" which has some nice B3 flourishes from keyboardist Cindy Pike and a bit of a groove. One of the songs that best highlights the band's vocal talent is their take on "Amazing Grace" which employs a new melody, piles of great harmonies and a chorus shipped in from the hymn "How Great Thou Art". It's creative and boy does it work! Not typical of the set stylistically because these guys like to pursue the acoustic rocking thing on songs like "Cause I Love You" and the Bare Naked Ladies soundalike "What I Must Do" which both work well. Overall as you'd expect from a low budget, this is one band who would benefit from having more time to polish things up but even so, there are some diamonds to be found in the dirt.
