If you happened to catch the Battle Of The Bands at last year's Metal Meltdown you certainly won't have forgotten Shekinah whose improvised music-with-dance was so avant-garde and potentially preposterous that one feared they'd be abused by the audience of metal heads. Yet somehow the group transfixed the audience and almost walked off with the prize. Now the lady behind Shekinah is back with an exceptionally assured tape -sorry, "a contrast in original music" - and again the very, very talented Ms Dalton avoids pretension, while showing an eclectic selection of influences ranging from acoustic singer/songwriter to synth ambient. I like Colleen's voice a lot, her songs are never less than interesting and I'll be playing the tape long after more expensive items have been discarded. Investigate.
