At long last one of the most delightful and appealing of country music's hitmakers has come up with her debut gospel album. Those of you what have enjoyed her stage shows over the years will know gospel has always featured in her act. Much thought has gone into the selection of the material. Whilst there is some familiar material, "The Old Rugged Cross", "Softly And Tenderly", etc, these comprise some enjoyable medleys to neatly round off both sides of the album. Otherwise it is good new original material. Crystal's music has always been hard to categorise, so some of these songs would sit comfortably in pop or easy listening categories. Having said that, I would say this album is very much more 'country' than several albums I have heard by her. To sum up, this is a most enjoyable contemporary gospel album which deserves to be heard wider than the rather restricted confines of country music.
