When 1 was a lad David Hadden was leading worship at the Dales Bible Week and angels were heard singing in the campsite. Those were heady days indeed and now, nearly two decades later, he appears still to be going strong - here contributing half of the songs to this live album recorded at a Bible Week in Blair Atholl Castle, Perthshire, last summer. Don't be fooled though by the Scottish theme promoted on the album's cover (complete with a relief map of Scotland), for this is no Celtic Praise III (you'll have to wait for Sammy to get his act together for that) and the contents are about as Scottish as Yorkshire pudding. That it is authentically live is testified to by a garnishing of screaming children, expectorating men and the odd flat female vocal common to such recordings. The worshippers re earnest and fervent but too many of the songs are rather medium paced and the musical arrangements lack variety and are too dominated by keyboards and vocals to hold one's attention. An album for the devoted perhaps, but "Fire From The North"? More of a damp squib, really. I wonder what the angels think...
