Released to coincide with the Revival '95 conference held in Wales, 'A Sound From Heaven' is not really a recording that you can categorise in any particular worship style. For a start, it was commissioned by Restoration Music and recorded using a 'staged' live congregation from West Yorkshire churches and acclaimed musicians such as Raul D'Oliveira on trumpet. You would be forgiven for thinking it was another American effort due to the style of production and recording. There are some quality arrangements and the songs on the whole are lyrically proficient. Worship leader David Hadden includes six of his own creations with varying success. Music styles range from the 80s style dance feel of the opening songs, through tight reggae on 'I Stand Before Your Throne', to the pretty bland 'Come Dancing' attempt with 'Streams Of Worship'. On the whole, a recording worth buying, if you are willing to forgive a couple of well-washed tunes.

This recording is a few years old, but considered by many to
be one of the best of its day. Possibly Steve Thompson's
best ever production, just listen to his superb
arrangements. Several of the songs were written before their
time and speak well into today. One of my all time favourite
recordings.
