The superstar status of Omagh's Dominic Kirwan in Irish pop music is undeniable, thanks to a stream of hit albums and many sell-out concerts. What is less clear is his spiritual status, and nothing on his website gives any clues. Neither does this single from 2005 - it's a good quality pop song, well produced and well sung, and he's joined by The Future, a trio of young musicians, two of whom are Colm and Barry, his own sons. The subject matter is all about finding romantic love at Christmas time ("We Fell In Love On Christmas Day"), so it's on a par with the seasonal pop stuff that's been infesting the Yuletide charts for many a year. Christians assert that the Love that came at Christmas is the manifestation in human form of Almighty God's only begotten Son Jesus; there's nothing in this that squares with that. I can only mark this on technical merit, in the absence of Christian content.

There's nothing wrong with the song as a song, but it's all about romantic love, there's nothing about the Love Divine that came down at Christmas. So it has as much relevance to the true meaning of Christmas as the Yuletide pop of Slade or Wham!
