Hailing from Bournemouth and part of the Nth Festival scene, there seems to be a really good indie Christian scene being developed on the south coast and at the front of this new wave are Echolab. This nine-track debut CD showcases their talents as an emotive, creative indie rock band unashamed to nail their spiritual colours to the mast in their songs. The band fit in snugly with what's happening musically in the mainstream British scene with echoes of Coldplay and Athlete here and there but with enough originality to make things really interesting. From the worshipful acoustic "God Is Watching" with Chris Hunt's raspy vocal to the intensity of, erm, "Intensity", this is an album packed with diversity, passion and a mixture of rocking tunes like "Always In Your Grace" and "God Knows" and more mellow moments like "Miss You" and "Zeal". The results are refreshing and I have a feeling that Echolab will be one to watch! Get in on the ground floor and check it out.
