Originating out of Jacksonville, Florida, the self-released 'Before All Things' is the third full-length project from the worship team of the church of Eleven22. Production, helmed by Jonathan Berlin, is a rich, sonic soundscape incorporating many modern elements; atmospheric keys and synths, driving beats, live guitars and electronic effects. "I'm Not Alone", the heaviest song here, is an explosive kick-starter with pounding drums and reverberating synths. "God Above", a slower piece changing styles, is a stirring, intricate, hymn-like praise song that would do Stuart Townend proud. The ethereal "Locked Up" is haunting; its mystical lyrics about Jesus's death, typical of the depth of the writing here - "A love that conquered the grave / My soul no longer to hide / When You made a thief Your bride". Album highlight "Before All Things", is a beautiful, effortless song of adoration to God; backed by gentle piano, echoing choral vocals and a well-placed cello and surely destined to hit congregational sets worldwide. The vocals of the seven leads are top-notch throughout; easily switching styles and genres. A varied, mature, multi-textured album with many layers and nuances to be uncovered; on-par with better-known brands such as Jesus Culture and Hillsong United.
