The accompanying blurb that came with this album mentioned bands like Longview, Coldplay, My Vitriol and Radiohead. Whilst it¹s possible to see how those bands have influenced the songwriting it has to be said that Free Flights Up are a long way away from measuring up to such mainstream icons. The songwriting is reasonably good here and there, "Capothree" is a pleasant enough pop song and "Under The Sea" is a promising ballad. The musicianship and arrangements are working quite well, for the most part. Sadly the band suffer from an unconvincingly weak vocal delivery and they just have not nailed the production and recording techniques that would have helped this album out. Consequently it's strictly demo quality.
